House passes Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act

UNITED STATES (WDEF) — The U.S. House passed the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act of 2023 on Thursday.

The bill reads, “To amend the Education Amendments of 1972 to provide that for purposes of determining compliance with title IX of such Act in athletics, sex shall be recognized based solely on a person’s reproductive biology and genetics at birth.”

Meaning, those with male reproductive organs cannot participate in women’s sports and those with female reproductive organs cannot participate in men’s sports.

H.R. 734 affects sports in federally funded educational institutions.

Local Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene took to Twitter after it passed.

“The House just passed the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act to ensure Title IX is protecting real women!! Unfortunately, every single Democrat voted against it because they believe in beating down women while propping up trans terrorists,” Greene said.

All democrats voted against the bill, while all republicans voted for the bill.

Republicans see the bill as protecting women’s sports, and allowing them a fair chance of winning.

However, democrats see this as an attack against transgender people.

The bill now advances to the Senate.

However, if it were to pass, the White House said President Biden would veto it.
