Howard High School parents and students protesting

Chattanooga, TN (WDEF) – Howard High students and their parents took to the street in protest Tuesday night.

They’re upset over the suspension of one the school’s most popular faculty member.

Band director Dexter Bell was placed on suspension and escorted out of the school on April 30th.

Students tell News 12 the next day, the principal announced the school band would not be allowed to play in the Armed Forces parade.

It was the first time in decades the band did not take part.

Parents say they were not told why Bell was suspended.

We’ll have more on this story as it becomes available.
