HTI Job Fair

Hixson, TN (WDEF) – HTI Employment Solutions, a multi-faceted human resource advisory firm, held a Job Fair today for Plastic Omnium, one of it’s bigger companies.

HTI is offering over 80 jobs, ranging from forklift operators and assembly workers to maintenance technicians. Based on experience, the starting pay is around $12/hour for temp-to-hire positions, and direct hire positions begin at $26/hour.

"Unemployment’s going down," said Nat Banks from HTI Employment Solutions. "Volkswagen has brought Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers in and I think that’s actually brought people into the community. I’ve interviewed several people this morning who said they moved here from other areas just because there’s opportunity."

The United States Bureau of Labor said that last month’s unemployment rate decreased to 5.5%. Tier 1 suppliers to Volkswagen, like Plastic Omnium, are ramping up employment opportunities in advance, due to the planned expansion this year.
