“Hug a Cow” at Blessing Creek Farm

LAFAYETTE, Ga. (WDEF) – Sunday was Hug a Cow Day at Blessing Creek Farms. People who came by got to have a meet and greet with a local famous Scottish Highland cow.

These Scottish highland cows are not known in the southeast and that’s what brought in all the interest from people. So, guests could pet Bonnie, the Scottish Highland cow, who is as soft as she looks. But the owner of Blessing Creek Farm, Starr Scott, never intended to for Bonnie to become this popular.

“We moved here on the farm a few years back and I grew up with cows. So, my husband and I thought we should get a unique cow like Bonnie, but we didn’t expect her to be so popular,” said Starr.

Hug a Cow Day at Blessing Creek brought in miles of people, but Starr says the purpose of this event is for people to have a chance to get out and do something a little different with their family.

“We want families to come and just do something unique, especially since a lot of families can’t afford to go to places like Disney World, so why not bring the vacation here,” says Starr.

It only costs $5 to have a meet and greet with Bonnie, the Scottish Highland cow, and all of the profits are being donated to Flourish Foster Care Support.
