Humphreys County Explosion Under Investigation

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – On October 10, 2025, a massive explosion occurred at the Accurate Energetic Systems facility in McEwen, Tennessee. 

The blast was so intense that it was felt miles away, completely destroying the building. 

Authorities have confirmed that at least 16 individuals inside the facility are presumed dead at this time.

Sheriff Chris Davis described the scene as the most devastating of his career, expressing deep sorrow over the loss. 

The search operation has now shifted from rescue to recovery, with over 300 personnel involved.

Federal agencies, including the ATF and FBI, are assisting with the investigation. 

Rapid DNA testing is underway to identify the victims, and authorities are working to determine the cause of the explosion.

The community has come together to support the victims’ families, holding vigils and offering condolences during this tragic time.
