Hamilton Co. Commissioners will have final vote on Hurricane Creek Cell tower

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – Hamilton county commissioners will have to decide whether a cell tower in a residential neighborhood is a necessity, or a nuisance.

Residents of the Hurricane Creek neighborhood have been fighting the proposed 150-foot telecommunications tower that would be built on Jennifer Lane.

It would be 190 feet from a home being built by Jeana Lee and her husband, a veteran and Chattanooga police officer.

The planning commission has voted to deny the proposal from Verizon and its contractor.

But the commissioners will make the final decision.

Hurricane Creek Homeowner Jeanna Lee commented “I think the commission is really concerned about a federal lawsuit coming back if they were to deny this and they want to be well-informed when they make a decision and I don’t blame them. I’m hoping they all call me and come out for a tour of our back yard so they can see just how close this proposed tower will be to our home.”

Commissioners will vote on that at next week’s meeting.
