Husband charged with spray painting the grave of his wife
GERALDINE, Ala. (WDEF) – A northeast Alabama man has been charged with desecrating the tombstone of his wife.
It happened at the New Canaan Baptist Church Cemetery near Geraldine on Thursday.
The grave stone was spray painted.
A witness described a suspicious character at the cemetery.
Then investigators got a call from a North Carolina police department saying a citizen was being threatened by the deceased’s husband, 46 year old Christopher Jack Lowrey.
And that person received pictures of him beside the spray painted grave stone.
When they went to his house, they matched his vehicle and the clothes he was wearing to the report of a suspicious character.
Sheriff Jimmy Harris says “it is very disturbing that anyone would destroy or damage anything in a cemetery. The Deputies and Geraldine Police Officers did a great job on making this arrest. We are continuing to interview witnesses and are still in contact with North Carolina officials. This is still an ongoing case.”
