Hwy 58 shooting victim on Sunday has actually been arrested

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – Chattanooga Police say the victim was also the suspect in a shooting Sunday evening.

19 year old Lovest L. Carter showed up at the hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.

But investigators had a hard time getting the story behind the shooting.

They determined that it happened at 4411 Oakwood Drive just off Highway 58.

They say Carter changed his account of the events as the investigation went on.

Police now believe that Carter was actually the primary aggressor in the conflict.

But no victims have come forward or been identified so far.

They say they did recover a stolen firearm from Carter’s vehicle.

He has been charged with Felony Reckless Endangerment, Possession of a Stolen Firearm, Possession of a Firearm during a Dangerous Felony and False Reports.

Chattanooga Police ask anyone with information on the incident to call 423-698-2525.
