Ironman competition praises Chattanooga

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – The athletes who came to Chattanooga for the IronMan competition are giving the city high marks.

According to a survey sent to some 55-thousand athletes, Chattanooga’s events ranked in the top ten.

The city has hosted the Little Debbie Ironman and the Sunbelt Bakery Ironman 70.3. Both are sponsored by McKee Bakery.

Bob Doak, President and CEO of the Chattanooga Convention & Visitors Center said, “These eleven events over five years, the economic impact is estimated to exceed a hundred million dollars. But, not only that uh, the, the value of having your name out there as a city, Chattanooga and Hamilton County to the world, is certainly very invaluable to our brand.”

In the Ironman 70.3, the city was named number one for Best Race Venue and Best Host city experience.
