Jackson County investigation into destructive device

Dutton, AL (WDEF) – A report of a vehicle in a field with the driver asleep leads to the man’s arrest and the removal of two destructive devices on Tuesday.

A citizen told the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office that the vehicle was stopped in a soy bean field on County Road 47 in Dutton with the driver asleep.

Deputies found 41-year-old John Daniel Adams of Fort Payne in the vehicle.

He had an outstanding warrant from Dekalb County and was transferred there.

Deputies later searched the vehicle and found what appeared to be two destructive devices.

The Dutton Fire Department, and Explosive Ordinance personnel from the Alabama Fire Marshals Office, Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, ATF and FBI agents all came out to help.

The devices were rendered safe and removed to be tested.

Adams is now charged with Possession/Manufacture/Transportation or Distribution of a Destructive Device in Jackson County.

He’ll be transferred back to Jackson County after he’s released from Dekalb County.
