Jackson County Sheriff Deputy honored with Life Saving Award

The Jackson County Sheriff is honoring one of his own deputies with a Life Saving Award.

Deputy Brenda Fossett got the award for her response to a medical crisis in Alabama.

A woman was pinned against a tree by a lawn mower.

She had a severe leg injury with lots of blood loss.

Deputy Fossett applied a tourniquet and called for an ambulance.

The victim was eventually airlifted for treatment.

The Sheriff says her quick decision making in a crisis went beyond the call of duty.
