Jackson County Sheriff’s Office warns of scam regarding fees, other payments

JACKSON COUNTY — The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office says they have received reports that calls are being made from what appears to be the Sheriff’s Office phone number (256-574-2610)
regarding court fees, bond payments, or other legal matters.

They want individuals to be aware that they will never call and request money, gift cards, wire transfers, or electronic payments over the phone for any purpose.

Scammers can make it appear as though they are calling from a legitimate phone number.

They ask individuals to not provide personal information or send money to anyone who contacts you claiming immediate payment is required.
