Jackson County vote

Jackson County, AL (WDEF) – Jackson County voters defeated a proposal Tuesday to raise the county’s sales tax by one cent.

Officials sent the proposal to the voters to help fill a budget deficit in the county.

Commissioners say they have already cut everything they can without hurting county services.

About 60 percent of voters said no to the tax hike.
