Jasper pastor indicted on charges of defrauding disabled adult
David Berry runs both a church and tax service in Jasper
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WDEF) – A pastor in Marion County has been indicted this week on financial exploitation charges.
David C. Berry is both a pastor at the Praise and Worship Family Outreach in Jasper, and he runs The Tax Service there also.
The indictment follows an investigation by the state Comptroller’s Office into disability payments.
He was appointed by Social Security to pay for the needs of a mentally disabled adult.
The audit found that Berry misappropriated $27,386.29 of the client’s money.
The report also cites direct transfers from the client’s account to Berry’s personal account, plus dental charges for Berry, himself.

The grand jury indicted Berry on charges of Theft over $10,000, Financial Exploitation and violation of the Computer Crimes Act.
