Jewish Community Memorial Vigil At Miller Park

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – Various community partners came together to join the Jewish community at Miller Park for the one-year remembrance and community-wide commemoration of the deadliest day in the history of modern Israel to date.

At the service, over 1200 candles were lit to honor the individuals who passed in this tragedy along with music, prayers, and poems to show support and commitment to Israel.

On October 7th, 2023, Hamas unleashed the vicious attacks on Israel which took the lives of nearly 1200 innocent individuals in one singular day. Along with the brutal deaths, over 250 people were taken hostage that day.

This horrific event has continued to devastate the global Jewish community’s sense of safety.

With over 100 people still being held hostage by the terrorists and over 42,000 lives claimed, the war between Israel and Hamas is far from being over.

With the goal of bringing together the Jewish community, this commemoration is just one out of over 100 that are taking place all around the country.

The Jewish Federation of Greater Chattanooga continues to build and foster a strong unified Jewish community and strives to ensure a well-being in both Israel and Chattanooga.
