Job, resource fair for formerly incarcerated people held this Friday

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — The Tennessee Office of Reentry (OOR) is hosting a job and resource fair for formerly-incarcerated people on Friday.

They are holding the job fair at Chattanooga State Community College from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on April 14.

The event will feature employers, non-profits, non-governmental organizations and state agencies.

It is free and open to the public.

The event will help “justice-involved individuals” return to their communities.

Features of the job and resource fair include:

  • Expungement guidance facilitated by Justice For All, a Tennessee Supreme Court Initiative.
  • A job fair and hiring event with employers.
  • State IDs and duplicate license services facilitated by the Tennessee Department of Safety.
  • Access to community resources and organizations that operate in the reentry space.
  • On-site registration into the Jobs4TN program.
  • A brief program from 9:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. where local leaders will provide remarks on the importance of the community supporting individuals who are reentering society.

The OOR is touring through Tennessee this month, with Chattanooga being their second stop. Governor Bill Lee inspired the creation of the OOR in 2021.

“It exists to reduce the rate of recidivism and improve reentry efforts statewide through a collaborative, strategic, and data-driven approach,” the Department of Labor and Workforce Development said.
