Joker’s Law takes another step forward

CLEVELAND, Tennessee (WDEF)- The Jokers Law Petition Project is one step closer to changing the law protecting law enforcement K9s as it has now officially oh its way to Nashville.

A petition to change the laws in respect to assaulting a law enforcement K9 following the September shooting of K9 Joker is on its way Nashville. The change in the law would make injuring or killing a police canine a Class C felony with a minimum sentence length of 3 years.

With over 16,000 signatures locally and over 250,000 social media responses this has taken on a life of its own.

Garrett said it was an emotional experience to had over the petition to representative Hall.

Hall said he has fielded calls from other states and cities supporting this change.
