Judge recuses himself in Grundy football attempted aggravated rape case

ALTAMONT, Tennessee (WDEF) – Judge William R. Anderson has recused himself from hearing the attempted aggravated rape case against five Grundy County High football players.

The juveniles appeared in court Monday morning.

They did not enter pleas, but told the judge about their attorney status.

It is still too soon to learn if they will be tried as adults.

They will return to court on November 15th.

Until then, they will remain on house arrest to continue their homebound learning.

The Judge says he is stepping down from the case because he represented one of the defendant’s parents when he was in private practice.

The juveniles are accused of hazing a 15 year old student at the football field house last week.
