Lafayette woman charged with vehicular homicide

FORT OGLETHORPE, Georgia (WDEF) – The woman at the center of a fatal motorcycle accident has turned herself in to authorities to face criminal charges.

Michelle Shirley, 41, was charged with vehicular homicide and reckless driving.

According to Fort Oglethorpe police, Shirley drove a van through a red a red light at a high rate of speed and struck Robert May, 50.

May was operating a motorcycle when he was hit. He was taken to a local hospital in critical condition where he later died.

The crash happened at the intersection of Lafeyette Road and Forrest Road back on March 28.

Shirley’s bond was set 1t $11,000.
