Update: Lake Winnie reopens waterslide after child injury

UPDATE:

Lake Winnie stated their Twist-N-Shout waterslide has reopened.

Here is Lake Winnie’s most recent comment on the issue:

“The State of Georgia today reinspected the Twist-N-Shout water ride in operation, including the rider tubes, the ride foundation, and signage and reopened it. Lake Winnepesaukah is a family amusement park that prides itself on a safe, welcome atmosphere.”

ROSSVILLE, Ga. (WDEF) — Lake Winnie has commented on the recent injury sustained in their SOAKya waterpark. They also revealed which type of waterslide the child was on when injured.

Here is their statement in full:

“On July 4, a child at our water park riding in a double tube sustained an injury. All safety guidelines were observed at the time an adult and the child entered the tube. The child was treated at the park and transported to Children’s Hospital.”

The Catoosa County Fire Department also responded to the injury. They stated that first responders treated the child and transported them to Children’s Hospital in Chattanooga.

Georgia’s Office of Commissioner of Insurance and Safety Fire is investigating the incident, according to Catoosa County fire officials.

So far, the child’s condition is unknown.

The only double-rider tube slides in the park are the Twist-N-Shout. On the park’s website, it states, “Riders under 42 inches tall may not ride this attraction.”

It goes on to say, “This is an intense ride and is not suitable for young riders or those with health conditions.”

The rides in question are a pair of tube slides, one of which is enclosed and the other is not, according to Lake Winnie’s website.
