Lake Winnie issues take down notice to “Gay Day” founder

Lake Winnepesaukah issued a takedown notice over Facebook. That’s after a local resident made changes to the logo to organize ‘Gay Day’.

"Yea I did a little satire kind of joke with their logo where I took the word and crossed it out and made it say gay instead of happy just kind of a word play."

Jo Lee is the organizer who edited the Lake Winnie logo… He changed the word "Happy" to "Gay" in the park’s slogan to organize the second annual unofficial ‘Gay Day at Lake Winnie’.

Lee said, "Last year, we only had five or six people show up, and nobody really cared and this year it seems like the whole community had something to say on it."

This year the event caught the attention of a lot of people getting over 200 comments along with Lake Winnie requesting that the picture be taken down, because it infringed on their trademark.

"Since our trademark was altered, we asked that the alterations be removed which were done so all is good," said Lake Winnie Public relations director, Talley Green.

Lee said he wasn’t bothered by the parks request to take down the logo and respected their opinion on the matter.

"It was just a little joke, and it didn’t bother me at all and i was fine taking it down it was just nothing major."
