Liner appears in court on murder for hire plot
CLEVELAND, Tenn. (WDEF)- The Cleveland man charged in the murder of his ex-wife was back in court.
Craig Liner is facing a capital murder charge in the January murder of Karen Liner, a Cleveland realtor.
Video footage shown in court showed the shooting occurred in the driveway of Karen’s home on Arthur Lane.
While incarcerated at the Bradley County Jail, Craig has since caught more charges for a murder for hire plot.
At a hearing livestreamed by WCLE Mix 104.1 , Another inmate at the jail, William McDaniel, testified that Craig was very upset with Karen’s mother, and wanted McDaniel to kill her.
McDaniel testified that Craig was mad over his mother-in-law “turning his kids against him”
McDaniel testified that he was offered a SUV and boat if he went through with the plot.
He also shared how Craig has been openly discussing his capital murder case and his disdain for his mother-in-law.
McDaniel: And he (Craig Liner) thought she (Karen Liner) was cheating on him…He planned on killing her, but didn’t plan on the doorbell camera catching him…I was worried if I said absolutely not right then, that something could happen to me…I told him I was going to take his of problem, and he said “You’re going to take care of my problem?” and I said yeah.
Prosecutor Ashley Zepada: And so when repeated back to you “You’re going to take care of my problem” what did that mean to you?
McDaniel: That means it was a go.
A Bradley County judge bound over the case to a grand jury.
Craig Liner could face the death penalty if convicted of Karen Liner’s death.
