Loaded gun found at Harrison Elementary School

HARRISON, Tenn. (WDEF)- Some Hamilton County Schools parents are concerned after a loaded handgun was found at Harrison Elementary School yesterday.

Hamilton County Schools says that the gun was found in a student’s backpack.

The gun was reported to the school’s security officer.

The Security Officer secured the weapon and began investigating the incident.

Parents were sent an email about the incident around 10 pm last night.

Hamilton County Schools says that no one was injured and there were no immediate threats to students or staff.

The school system sent us a statement saying:

“Local law enforcement is engaged, and, once the investigation is completed, appropriate disciplinary action will be taken in accordance with state law and board policy.”
