Local doctor creates baby formula bank amid the shortage

Mgn 1280x960 20513c00 QjwxdA Chattanooga doctor has taken it upon himself to help local moms find formula during the ongoing shortage.

Dr. Matthew Hitchcock has opened his family practice facility to become a place that collects and trades various types of formula.

Hitchcock said he saw there was a lot of formula trading happening online and he wanted to help simplify the process.

“People online were saying ‘Hey, I have some extra’, and trying to match with people. It was just a haphazard mess,” Hitchcock said. “So, we said, let’s make a place where people can donate their formula, if they have extra at home. We don’t want them buying it and taking it off the shelves, but if they have extra at home they can bring it to us. If people need formula they can request it and we can match the people that have it with the people that need it.”

If you have any spare baby formula you can drop it off at Hitchcock Family Medicine.
