Local NAACP issues recommendation for next Chief of Police

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — The Chattanooga-Hamilton County NAACP is recommending Edwin McPherson to become Chattanooga’s next police chief.

McPherson is currently an Assistant Chief with the force.

The branch started a committee for citizens input on who should become the next chief.

The committee has met over the past few months.

The NAACP is making the recommendation to Mayor Andy Berke.

Mayor Andy Berke will select a candidate, and City Council will have to approve the selection.
