Local officers intervene in teen kidnapping case from Maryland

The suspect seemed to be taking the girl back to Louisiana where he is from

CLEVELAND, Tennessee (WDEF) – Tennessee State Troopers are revealing how they were able to intervene in the kidnapping of a teenage girl from Maryland.

The 16 year old girl was abducted on Saturday evening near Annapolis, Maryland.

Police suspected the man who took her was headed to Louisiana.

They informed law enforcement in Tennessee that they believed the two were headed down I 75.

A Cleveland Police officer spotted the vehicle and was joined by a state trooper to pull it over.

They arrested 54 year old Richard Walker from Gonzales, Louisiana.

The victim was returned to her legal guardians, while Walker remains in the Bradley County jail until he can be returned to Maryland to face charges.
