Local Perspective of New Year’s Resolutions at Local Gym

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF)- We’re just two days into 2017 and with the new year comes New Year’s Resolutions.

News 12 went to the Sports Barn, which is one of Chattanooga’s local clubs, to see not only about resolutions, but to see if the usual trend of memberships increased, we got some different answers.

“We always increase, people you know working on their resolution,” said Tim Kendrick who is a trainer at the gym.

“That tradition has changed a little bit it actually gets busier more in the February month than it is in January. I think people are fatigued from going out from actually doing shopping and the Christmas and they are worn out and time it comes to about middle of February people are going oh my gosh bathing suit time or its vacation time,” said Don Bowman.

And that brought us to see how some members got to that bathing suit size.

News 12 even joined in on a cycling class.

In addition to the cycling class, the Sports Barn offers more than 200 other programs, but we didn’t want to try them all at once.

So we also asked while we were here what was some of their New Year’s resolutions.

“My New Year’s resolution is to eat healthier and exercise more and come here on a regular basis and drink more water,” said Sammie Awasmeh.

“And what is you New Year’s resolution?” said reporter Brian Didlake.

“None,” said Petra Green

“Why Not?”

“I don’t keep them… its the truth, I don’t make any that way I don’t have to break them,” said Greene.

“What are my New Year’s Resolution? Just eat good and work out and stay in good health,” said Tim Kendrick.

Fitness experts say make sure you don’t overdo it the first time you hit the gym in the New Year.
