Local singers Jordan Smith & Kane Brown duel for national sales
CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) Two rising stars from our area are battling it out for fans in iTunes this week.
Voice winner and Lee University student Jordan Smith released his recording debut last week.
And rising country artist and Chattanooga native Kane Brown also self-released his second EP.
Both are taking unconventional routes to musical fame.
Smith won the national singing contest on TV, but doesn’t easily fit in to any specific musical genre.
Brown has been trying to crack the Nashville scene without a recording contract.
He has made his name through self-produced YouTube videos.
So which artist is doing better this week?
Jordan Smith’s “Something Beautiful” debuted at number one on the iTunes album chart. It now is the #2 best seller.
Kane Brown’s “Chapter 1” now ranks #8 after also hitting the top of the iTunes album chart a couple of weeks ago.
Over on the songs chart, Brown has “There Goes My Everything” and “Used to Love You” in the top 100.
Smith’s “Stand in the Light” is #95.
But you can also judge the artists by their videos on YouTube.
Jordan Smith’s video for Stand in the Light has now topped 300,000 views.
Brown has just release a new, official video for his song from last year that is still fighting up the country charts, Used to Love You Sober.
It is one of a pair of Kane Brown songs that have more than a million views on YouTube.
Brown has moved to Nashville while his management slowly courts a major label.
But his music is getting out there all the same.
And we can expect his major label debut to get a major push, whenever it happens.
