Local veteran nominated for national fundraiser

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) Jimmy Grimes is a local veteran who was recently nominated for the 50 States 50 Veterans Gofundme campaign.
The campaign was started by an Australian philanthropic influencer named Sam Weidenhofer.
Jimmy is a Marine veteran, serving in a unit that suffered heavy losses overseas.
Now, he and his wife are facing a new struggle. Their young daughter, McLaren, has a rare form of tumor on her brain stem. Treatment for her illness is limited. Jimmy and his wife Stevie are full-time carers for their daughter.

Jimmy Grimes told me, “I’m grateful and blessed to be accepted and nominated for this because we really have risked. I feel like we’re risking a lot in the sense of trying to be here for her. We’re risking it to save a life and there’s just so much life for her to live.”
