Locals in Sequatchie County celebrate Heritage Farm program
SEQUATCHIE COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) – Community members and county leaders gathered Friday to celebrate the Sequatchie Heritage Farm program.
The program recognizes the importance of farms in Sequatchie County.
These farms have been owned by the same family for 100 years.
In Sequatchie County, there are more than 180 farms.
“These farms just show everyone that we’ve got a lot of heritage here in this area,” said Ben Condra, local farm owner. “This will recognize those people that stuck with it through the many years and kept it in their family.”
Sequatchie County legislators also passed a resolution to protect these farms used for agriculture.
The program is meant to protect family legacies and pay tribute to those who have worked these farms for the past 100 years.
