Former Vols receiver Drae Bowles claims head coach Butch Jones told him he betrayed the team after Bowles assisted a female student, who was allegedly raped by two UT football players in November of 2014.
That allegation came out Wednesday in a revised federal lawsuit against the University of Tennessee.
Bowles transferred to UTC after the season.
Jones denies the claims. He issued a statement saying in part: “The assertion that I ever attempted to belittle or demean a young man for taking action to help another person is absolutely false.

The Cleveland school board will hold a special called meeting later today.
It’s to discuss and vote on the hiring process for a new director of schools.
The former director, Dr. Martin Ringstaff came under fire earlier this month after controversy surrounding inappropriate social media messages.
School board members say they would like to have a replacement picked by May.

TechTown Foundation is hosting a Read Across America kick-off party and book presentation today.
CGLA student and TechTown alumn, Tay’Viona Harris will present copies of her book, which has been named winner of the Young Story-Tellers Book Award.
The event happens today from 1-2PM at 325 Market Street.
