Lookout Mountain neighborhood evacuated due to fires

LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Georgia (WDEF) – Georgia Forestry officials confirm that the Highlands Neighborhood on Lookout Mountain is being evacuated due to the Tatum Gulf wildfire.

The neighborhood is in Dade County and residents were told by Georgia Forestry to be out of the area by 3:45 pm Sunday afternoon.

News 12 spoke with forestry officials who said the evacuation is to help firefighters protect the homes and at this time forestry officials do not predict structure damage.

Trenton Methodist Church and the Salem Community Center are opening as temporary shelters.
