Lookouts Get a Pair of Homeruns to Knock Off Jackson
Home runs by DJ Hicks and Daniel Palka fueled the Lookouts to a 5-2 win over the Jackson Generals on Wednesday afternoon. The win was the team’s first home win of 2016.
Starting pitcher DJ Baxendale (W, 1-1) secured his first victory of the season after only allowing one run in five innings. Relievers Brett Lee and Brandon Peterson combined to allow only one run in three innings. Marcus Walden came into the game in the ninth to earn his first save of the year and clinch the win for Chattanooga.
On top of the great pitching performances the team also had a solid day on offense. DJ Hicks started off the scoring in the fourth with a two-run homer off of Generals starter Edwin Diaz (L, 1-1). The team added another run in the sixth on another homer this time by Daniel Palka. The team’s last two runs of the day came in the bottom of the eighth on a sacrifice fly by Travis Harrion and a RBI by Hicks.
Tomorrow, the Lookouts and the Generals face off in game three of there five game series. The game begins at 7:15 p.m. and is the team’s first Thirsty Thursday of the year. The night also features the debut of the team’s Nooga alternate jerseys.
