Man arrested after attacking East Ridge Police officer
EAST RIDGE, Tenn. (WDEF) — A man is behind bars for attacking an East Ridge Police officer.
Police say 37-year-old Taylor McKinnon was taken into custody.
East Ridge Assistant Chief Stan Allen says officers got a disorder call about a man who was yelling and threatening people with a hammer.
It happened at a business in the 6700 block of Ringgold Road.
Authorities found McKinnon nearby.
According to East Ridge Police, officers tried to speak to McKinnon and say that’s when McKinnon attacked the officer with a hammer.
East Ridge Police say the officer was struck in the arm.
McKinnon and the police officer were treated and released from a local hospital.
East Ridge Police say the officer had only minor injuries and was back on the job after he was treated.
McKinnon faces two counts of aggravated assault and resisting arrest, according to authorities.
