Man facing several charges after leading troopers on chase Friday Night

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF)– A man is behind bars, facing several charges, after leading the Tennessee Highway Patrol on a chase in Chattanooga late Friday night.

After an attempted traffic stop by a Tennessee Highway Patrol trooper on Frazier Avenue, the report says that 30-year-old Jonathan Henderson fled and led troopers on a 13-minute pursuit.

The trooper determined that the Ford Explorer he was driving was stolen.

Henderson ignored all traffic signals, signs and lights, through residential and business areas, according to the arrest report, and also drove the wrong way on the road several times while traveling at high speeds.

Investigators determined that Henderson threw a bag that had multiple full gun magazines as well as drug baggies, scales and items marijuana residue out the car window while he fled.

Henderson eventually crashed into a parked vehicle and took off on foot, according to the report.

Henderson was eventually subdued, but troopers say he ignored trooper’s commands and refused arrest.

The report cites that he was “acting irrational” and may have been under the influence of a narcotic.

Henderson faces several charges including: DUI, Theft of property, Felony Evading Arrest, Felony Reckless Endangerment, Driving on Revoked, Suspended or Cancelled License, Resisting Arrest or Obstruction of Legal Process, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Tampering with or Fabricating Evidence, Leaving Scene of Accident with Damage to Vehicle, and Disobedience to Officer Directing Traffic.

He has been booked in the Hamilton County Jail with a $50,000 bond.
