Man fined after refusing to cleanup illegal dumping at North Chickamauga WMA
SODDY DAISY, Tennessee (WDEF) – A Soddy Daisy man has been fined for dumping trash at the North Chickamauga Creek Wildlife Management Area in March.
Wildlife officers spent a morning coming through several bags of trash, tires, a muffler and part of a car frame that was dumped at the WMA.
TWRA officials say they found enough evidence in the trash to lead them to a local business, which led them to 23-year old Jayson Hood.
They say he confessed to the dumping.
In court, a just encouraged him to clean it up, but he refused.
So they fined him $250 to cover the cleanup costs and gave him five days of community service, plus court costs.
Officer Colt Elrod stated, “It is easy to dispose of trash legally, rather than taking dollars from the hunting community. We’re grateful for the D.A.’s decision”.
