Many rescued dogs got new families to go home with

CHATTANOOGA, Tennessee(WDEF) – A collaboration between a Paw and Prayer Dog Rescue and Prudential Realty has led to many dogs being adopted Saturday afternoon

Organizers of the dog adoption event were overwhelmed by the number of people who opened their homes and their wallets to help rescued dogs find new homes.

"We’ve probably had 10 or more at least. Maybe more. I’ve  lost count. And we’ve gotten a foster family,"said A Paw and a Prayer Dog Rescue Owner Judy Butterfield.

"We’ve had families. We’ve had individuals. We’ve had single people today who have come in and found a pet that they can take home and love and make part of their forever family," Said Prudential Realty spokesperson Lisa Padgett.

A medium size dog was paraded around the event with the hope that someone would want a bigger dog. Unfortunately, most of the demand was for smaller canines.

"People are apartment dwellers; a lot of them and they want port-a-pup. They want a dog that’s going to stay small and easily transportable and walkable,"Buttrerfield said.

Organizers told WDEF the adoption event was very successful.

Butterfield also gave WDEF an update on three puppies she rescued after they were left as trash to be picked up by a trash collector.

According to Butterfield, All three puppies have fully recovered and are doing very well. Two of the puppies were adopted and the third puppy is now in a foster home.
