Maria Lee announces she is in remission from lymphoma

NASHVILLE, Tennessee (WDEF) – Tennessee’s First Lady announces that she is in remission from cancer.

Maria Lee posted a video on Thursday thanking people for their prayers during her treatment.

The Governor’s wife says that a stem cell transplant in February was a success.

She was diagnosed with lymphoma in August.

Lee has been largely absent from public life since then, including Bill Lee’s re-election campaign in the fall.

She also has kept out of the public eye after the school shooting in Nashville even though her best friend was one of the victims.

“It hasn’t always been easy, but not once have I felt alone, and we’ve seen God’s faithfulness every step of the way.”

Lee says she will have to be monitored for the next five years as her immune system continues to heal.
