Marietta, GA holds memorial for Lance Corporal Skip Wells, victim of Thursday’s terror attack

Marietta, GA (WDEF) –     Friends, family members, and colleagues packed the Sprayebrry High School football field in Marietta, Georgia Tuesday night.
    It was the memorial for Lance Corporal Squire "Skip" Wells.
    The 21-year-old was one of the five people gunned down last week.
    He joined the Marine Corps last year.
    Many that knew him say he was a caring individual whose presence and energy will be missed.
    Rep. Tom Price (R-Georgia) spoke at the memorial.  He said, "Skip Wells is a hero, it’s been said that a hero gives his life for something bigger then himself, that’s what he did."
    Wells’ high school band director Andrew Esserwein also spoke.  He said, "Skip was our protector.  When our band family, our Sprayberry community, he protected us."
    Wells’ memorial included a color guard, the singing of the Star Spangled Banner, and a plane fly over the stadium.
