Marion County mother suing school system over school threat

MARION COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) —  The mother of a student who was arrested in August for making a school threat in Marion County is suing the school system.

In a federal lawsuit filed in the Eastern District Court of Tennessee, the mother going by “Mary Doe” says that her son was suspended for telling another student, “Stop Tapping that Pencil Before I Bomb You.”

That student has since been expelled and is attending an alternative school.

The mother argues that school officials took her son out of context and that the punishment is too extreme.

They are asking Marion County Schools to allow the student to return to his normal school.
