Marion County resident concerned about consistent outages
MARION COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) — This weekend’s severe weather caused power outages throughout the area.
One area affected is the Riverside community in Marion County along Highway 41.
A longtime resident says that they are seeing increasing power outages due to trees next to power lines.
She states EPB has been ignoring their requests to cut trees near their property to prevent these outages.
“They used to take care of it years ago. You’d call them and talk to the maintenance, and they would come out and cut them, and take really good care of them. But now, they don’t, and they’re falling and they’re causing us not to even have power,” explained Debbie Wooden. “We have not had power since yesterday. One day we did not have power for 19 hours, another day we did not have power for 8 hours like the day before that.”
We have reached out to EPB.
They told us they deeply regret this customer’s experience.
EPB performs tree trimming and vegetation management on a regular schedule, they added.
Additionally, they encourage customers who have specific tree trimming concerns to call them, at 423-648-1372.
