Marvene Noel officially sworn into City Council

Noel recently won runoff election to earn District 8 seat

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) — On Thursday night, the runoff election for District 8’s City Council seat concluded with a win for previously appointed board member Marvene Noel.

She was officially sworn into office at Tuesday night’s city council meeting.

All of her fellow council members, as well as many in attendance, gave Noel a rousing standing ovation afterward.

She thanked those in District 8 that voted for her, saying she won’t let them down.

“I will continue to work very hard, continue to use my experience, knowledge and common sense to be [an effective] representative for all of you,”  Noel said.

Noel defeated social activist Marie Mott by just 70 votes last week.

Mott now intends to run for Chattanooga Mayor moving forward.
