Mayfield Dairy closing plant in Braselton, Georgia

BRASELTON, Georgia (WDEF) – Dean Foods is closing the Mayfield Dairy plant near Atlanta.

The Braselton plant will begin laying off workers in September and close up shop by the end of the year.

They had already announced plans to shut down the Visitor Center there at the end of August.

More than 108 workers will lose their jobs.

Dean, which owns Mayfield, has not said why they are closing the plant.

But this summer, Walmart stores dropped Mayfield milk from their shelves, even though they continue to sell the ice cream.
