Mayor Berke on Police Pay

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – Chattanooga police officers, like all city employees, will be getting a 3 percent raise next year.

Mayor Andy Berke and police union representatives have come to terms on pay raises and adjustments, which will be included in Chattanooga’s budget for Fiscal Year 2018.

The mayor’s proposal, announced this morning, will change overtime policies.

Interim police chief David Roddy says the proposed changes will go a long way toward retaining trained officers who are sometimes leaving for better pay.

The city council will vote on the changes, September 5th.
