Mayor Berke tours Foundry District sites

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — Mayor Andy Berke joined city and county officials for a walk-through of the Foundry District.

Wednesday morning, Mayor Berke took a tour of the different sites in the area. People with Chattanooga Design Studio and the foundry site owners, showed areas that will be part of the upcoming Foundry District Study.
Officials say the walk-through highlighted the work Chattanooga is doing to create a community plan to repurpose the sites as part of the study.

“The goal is obviously with these two public input process, to gather public input, and then our consultants will gather that input and create a framework plan for this entire district that could guide how the district grows over the next 10 to 15 years,” said Eric Myers, Executive Director at Chattanooga Design Studio.

Mayor Berke says it will be great to get feedback from the public.
“This is a great process that we are going to, part of making a city great is hearing from people about what they want to see and over the course of the next few weeks we are going to be talking to citizens and hearing from them about what they envision here and trying to put that into practice,” Mayor Berke said.
