Mayor Jim Coppinger congratulates Weston Wamp on Primary win

HAMILTON COUNTY, Tennessee (WDEF) – Outgoing Mayor Jim Coppinger kept quiet about the candidates running in the Republican primary to replace him.

When he announced he would not seek re-election last year, businessman Matt Hullander, Commission member Sabrena Smedley and political activist/business consultant Weston Wamp got in the race.

Wamp won a very close primary with just over 2,000 votes separating all three.

Now Mayor Coppinger is congratulating him on his victory and endorsing Weston Wamp to follow in his footsteps:

I want to congratulate Weston Wamp on winning the Republican nomination for County Mayor. Weston’s energy and vision will make him an outstanding leader for the Republican Party and all citizens of Hamilton County. He has shown a broad base of support from voters across Hamilton County, and I believe Weston will prevail in the August general election and am confident that he will lead Hamilton County to continued success.
