Mayor Kelly’s plans for the city

CHATTANOOGA, Tennessee (WDEF) – Chattanooga City Mayor Tim Kelly and the city’s chief of staff had a discussion about the plans for Chattanooga’s future including an early look at who could be the new Chattanooga police chief.

It was a near information overload at Tuesday’s city council agenda meeting as Chattanooga’s chief of staff unveiled what the future plans for the city are.

Changes to departments such as public works and Economic development and Community development departments are separate.

The mayor and his chief of staff unraveled that the structure of the several departments including the Chattanooga police department will not change.

This comes after Police Chief David Roddy will be retiring effective at the end of July.
Kelly’s Chief of Staff Brent Goldberg and Mayor Kelly said Chief Roddy will play a role in hiring the new chief and it will be a nationwide search and local candidates will certainly be considered.

Councilwomen Demetrius Coonrod took a few moments to speak glowingly about the soon to be retired chief of police and says she is sad he will be going.
