McMinn Investigators Charge Two in String of House Breakins
The mail carrier reported a suspicious Ford pickup behind a room on County road 568.
That same vehicle was spotted near another home burglary.
Then last Wednesday Deputy Todd Levi stopped the truck pulling a trailer near Dominoes Pizza in Athens.
He found electronics in the truck believed to have been stolen.
“At that point, other Officers got involved, including Sgt Jason Pickel and Detectives Tim Carver and Josh Rhodes,” said McMinn Co Sheriff Joe Guy.
“As the investigation proceeded, it became evident that these two had committed a string of burglaries in both McMinn and Monroe Counties, so this is now a joint investigation with Sheriff Tommy Jones.”
Mark Dockery of Englewood and Anthony Shane Jirles of Athens face burglary charges for five homes.
Sheriff Guy in McMinn County and Sheriff Jones in Monroe are still asking residents to identify several 4 wheelers they have recovered.
