ME report: Hamilton Place office shooter used a bb gun that jammed

Disgruntled worker fired the gun at his supervisor, unsuccessfully. He then used a second gun to kill himself.

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – We have new information tonight on just what happened last month in the active shooting incident next to Hamilton Place Mall.

A worker from the Air Pollution Control Bureau fired shots at his supervisor and then shot himself at the C-B-L office complex.

But according to the Medical Examiner’s Report, John Charles Schultz tried to use a b-b gun on his boss but it jammed.

Police say after fleeing her office, he pulled another handgun and shot himself.

The report says Schultz was angry because his supervisor had rejected his request to work from home after hip surgery.

The report also notes that seven years before, police took him into custody after he threatened to shoot himself.
