Meigs Co Girls End Baylor’s Dominance in the Best of Preps Tournament

bhattanooga-(WDEF-TV) The Baylor girls basketball team saw their reign of Best of Prep tournament titles come to an end on Friday night at Chattanooga State. Meigs Co beat the Red Raiders 45-39 in the semifinals. Baylor had won the previous six Best of Preps championships. In Friday’s game, the Red Raiders led it 19-13 at halftime, and they carried a six point lead into the final period as well. Meigs Co did not take the lead until 2:30 to play when Jaci Powell hit a 3-pointer to make it 38-37 Tigers. Powell also hit a key lay-up with just over a minute to play to make it 42-39 Tigers. Meigs Co out-scored Baylor 21-9 in the fourth quarter to secure the 45-39 victory. Now the Tigers will face Signal Mountain in the championship game at 7pm on Saturday night at Chattanooga State.
